Class Interest

The rich may be perfectly happy identifying with each other across national, religious, or ethnic lines, as Renoir so memorably captured in Grand Illusion, and as we see today, I hazard, in the friendship between Jared Kushner and Mohammad Bin Salman. But not the poor. And why would they? The rich bond because of their common distinction. And it is naught but distinction that the poor seek to create for themselves.
